BBC orders a fourth series of Here We Go

And the comedy gets a New Year special

The BBC has ordered a fourth series of Tom Basden’s Here We Go – plus a New Year’s Eve special to air this year.

All the key cast will be returning for the new episodes, including Jim Howick, Katherine Parkinson, Alison Steadman  and Freya Parks, as well as creator Basden himself.

He said: ‘The Jessops are like a second family to me, so I’m utterly delighted to be bringing Here We Go back on the BBC for a catastrophic New Year’s special and I can’t wait to start work on series  four.’

The news comes as the BBC also announced a new sitcom about midwives from Jessica Knappett and a new project from Ruth Jones and Steve Speirs about middle-aged friendships.

Jon Petrie, director of BBC comedy, says: ‘With its stellar cast and Tom Basden’s pin-sharp comic writing, Here We Go has pulled off something rare in a space that’s notoriously hard to crack.

‘It continues to keep audiences chuckling and the BBC is delighted to be bringing back more of the glorious Jessop family chaos.’

The festive special revolves around Parkinson’s Rachel keen to throw a massive party, while Jim Howick’s Paul would prefer a quiet cottage break. ‘So begins a typically chaotic Jessop Family holiday,’ the BBC says, ‘featuring a road trip, a missing dummy, and a large crate of unlicensed fireworks Paul picked up from a police auction.’

Also returning to the cast are  Jude Morgan-Collie, Tori Allen-Martin, Mica Ricketts, Ed Kear   and Jon Furlong
