The Office spin-off renewed for season 2 before the first drops

The Paper – the new mockumentary spin-off from The Office – has been renewed for a second series the day before its first drops in the US.

Show stars Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore revealed the news on NBC’s Today this morning.

The comedy features the same documentary crew that followed Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch taking on a new project, tracking historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.

Its cast also include Tim Key, Black Ops’ Gbemisola Ikumelo and stand-up Alex Edelman – as well as Oscar Nuñez  reprising his role as accountant Oscar Martínez from The Office.

All 10 episodes of the series’ first season will be released tomorrow, on Peacock in the US, then comes to Sky and Now TV in Britain on Friday.

The Office developer Greg Daniels is co-creator, and co-showrunner of The Paper with Michael Koman. And as originators of the original Office, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are credited as executive producers on The Paper, too.

Also in the cast are  Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg and  Ramona Young.
