Jamie MacDonald announces first tour
Blind comic is fed up of being told he's a hero....
Jamie MacDonald has announced his first tour.
The comic will play a dozen dates of his show Toxic Bastard around the UK this autumn after launching it at the Edinburgh Fringe.
According to the blurb: ‘As a white, middle-class, straight male with an OK career Jamie fits the current stereotype of a loathsome, over-privileged, toxic bastard. However, based purely on the fact that he is blind , he’s constantly told he’s a role model.
'FYI, he isn’t toxic. But surely he should have the choice to be without people continually telling him he’s a hero?’
The comic has appeared on Live At The Apollo, Celebrity Masterchef and Have I Got News For You and acted in three series of BBC sitcom The Scotts, which ended last year.
In 2022 he won the Grierson Award for Best Presenter for his BBC 2 documentary Blind Ambition while the ITVX show Evil Escapes, in which he, Lee Ridley, and Eshaan Akbar, is nominated for best popular factual programme in this year’s Broadcast Digital Award.
The Toxic Bastard tour kicks off at Brighton Komedia on September 2 following a two-week Edinburgh run at Gilded Balloon Patter House.
