Sixth series for Sorry I Didn’t Know

Chizzy Akudolu becomes host, and Richard Blackwood a team captain

ITV has renewed its black history panel show Sorry I Didn’t Know – but with team captain Chizzy Akudolu taking over as host.

Jimmy Akingbola, who hosted the first five seasons, is unavailable for the sixth as he will be filming Bel-Air, the Peacock series which reimagines The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as a drama. He stars as Geoffrey Thompson in the show.

Eddie Kadi will return as one team captain on Sorry, I Didn’t Know, with Richard Blackwood taking over the opposing side Akingbola will remain as an executive producer and could host future seasons.

Filming for the new series will take place in the summer and will likely air during Black History Month – October – as previous seasons have.

Fraser Ayres, who co-created the panel show, said: ‘Chizzy has been part of the SIDK family since our pilot in 2016 and was amazing when she hosted an episode last series, so it’s great to see her in the hosting seat.

‘And in Richard we have the perfect sparring partner for Eddie – They’re long-time friends and he has already shown he’s a brilliant and hilarious guest, so we are thrilled he will be joining the team on the regular.’

ITV commissioner Katie Rawcliffe  called the programme ' infectiously funny, adding: 'This season Chizzy is stepping into Jimmy’s hot seat, and I can’t wait to see her take the helm.'
