It's the end of term for Boarders

Public school comedy to return for third and final series

Public school comedy Boarders is to return for a third and final series, the BBC has announced.

The show was created by  Daniel Lawrence Taylor, who also stars as Gus – the mentor of the group of five black South London teens who win a scholarship to the prestigious St. Gilbert’s.

Taylor will also make his directorial debut this series, helming the final episode.

He said: ‘Boarders has been a deeply personal project for me, and it’s been incredible to see how audiences have connected with the characters. From day one, I wanted to create something funny, honest, and proudly black – and in this final term, I hope to finish their story with greater challenges, deeper friendships and the looming question of life beyond school.’

Jodie Campbell, Sekou Diaby, Aruna Jalloh, Myles Kamwendo and Josh Tedeku are all returning to there roles as the pupils, now in their final term and looking to their future – if they can get past the intense rivalry with a neighbouring school.

Here they are announcing the final series:

The comedy-drama is made by Studio Lambert, whose creative director Madeleine Sinclair said: "Daniel’s fearless and sharp writing, as well as standout performances from our cast have meant that audiences have truly embraced our characters and we cannot wait for everyone to see how their stories conclude – with humour, honesty, and a lot of heart.’

And  Lindsay Salt, director of BBC drama says: ‘Boarders has been a fun, sharp and timely addition to our screens since its launch two years ago, with star-making turns from its exceptional young cast. We're so excited to return to St Gilbert's one more time to bring viewers the conclusion of Daniel Lawrence Taylor's hit comedy-drama.’

The final six 45-minute episodes will be filmed in Bristol later this year and are expected to air in 2026.

The first and second series of Boarders are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
