The Department of Britishness hits the UK in May

Indian comic Anuvab Pal has announced a 2024 UK tour.

His new show, The Department of Britishness, considers the national traits that the UK government are trying to sell to India, noting: ‘It has been done before, with dubious results’.

But the show’s description says that Pal will ‘explain in detail why Indians should embrace Britishness, having done it himself’.

Pal tours internationally as a stand-up, has written a number of Bollywood films and is one of the regulars on The Bugle podcast with Andy Zaltzman – with whom he created the Radio 4 comedies Empire-ical Evidence and Future Empire-Fect.

His solo show Empire can be seen as a special on Amazon Prime Video as part of Soho Theatre Live.

The Department of Britishness tour kicks off in Southend in Essex on May 17 and ends with a week-long run at the Soho Theatre in London in June.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow.
