Amy Gledhill 'to join LOL: Last One Laughing'
First comedian linked to series two
Amy Gledhill has unofficially been named as the first contestant in the next series of Amazon’s LOL: Last One Laughing.
A second run of the reality show – in which comedians try to make each other laugh without cracking up themselves – is going into production following the success of the first.
Now The Sun has reported that the 2024 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner is set to be taking part, becoming the first name floated for the second series.
Gledhill might be able to get some tips on taking part from Harriet Kemsley, her co-host on the podcast Single Ladies In Your Area, who took part in series one.
The second series of Last One Laughing will be filmed later this year, ready to air in 2026 on Prime Video. When the recommission was announced, host Jimmy Carr said: ’I'm so pleased people had as much fun watching the first season as we had making it. Can't wait to bask in the reflected glory of the next ten comedy legends taking on the challenge.’
Gledhill’s previous TV credits include Live At The Apollo, The Jonathan Ross Show, The One Show, Pointless Celebrities and The Stand Up Sketch Show.
She has also played Leslie in two episodes of Sophie Willan’s comedy, Alma’s Not Normal and has been cast in the forthcoming Netflix adaptation of Harlan Coben’s Run Away.
Her first Fringe show The Girl Before The Girl You Marry was nominated for best newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.
Chortle has approached Gledhill’s agent for comment.
Last One Laughing UK is one of many international adaptations of the original Japanese series Documental, where comedians staked their own money. Local versions have been made in Ireland, hosted by Graham Norton, Australia hosted by Rebel Wilson and South Africa hosted by Trevor Noah, among many others.
The comics who took part in series one of the UK remake - which launched in March - were Bob Mortimer, Daisy May Cooper, Joe Lycett, Judi Love, Rob Beckett, Sara Pascoe, Lou Sanders, Joe Wilkinson, Harriet Kemsley and Richard Ayoade, with Roisin Conaty as Carr’s sidekick.
