The week's best comedy on TV and radio
Our pick of the comedy on TV, radio and on demand this week:
Monday June 19
WONDERS OF THE WORLD I CAN'T SEE: In this new series, comedian Chris McCausland travels across the globe to explore some of the world's most recognisable landmarks. But as he's blind he has to rely on his celebrity travelling companion to bring these magnificent places to life with their words alone. In episode one, he's joined by Harry Hill for a trip to the Acropolis in Athens, where they also take in some local culture, including sea fishing, pottery making, olive oil tasting and Greek drama lessons, and even try their hand at a few Olympic sports in the Panathenaic Stadium. Channel 4, 10pm
THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES: The comedy about a family who built a fortune from televangelism returns for a third series. Sky Comedy, 9.40pm
Tuesday June 20
JANEY GODLEY: THE C BOMB: A hard-hitting stand-up series as the Glaswegian comic faces her own mortality, given her diagnosis with terminal cancer. She and daughter Ashley Storrie talk, laugh and cry as they talk about some of their experiences on stage. She’s also submitted to the ultimate ‘C bomb' for many men and women of her generation - counselling. BBC Radio 4, 6.30pm.
POBL BACHYN: This short comedy-horror film, released on iPlayer last month, is the directorial debut of comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean. It focuses on the triple threat of Welsh folklore, English tourists and being hungover - and all set on a farm on Ynys Môn (Angelsey). It stars comics Adam Drake, Ed Easton, Kath Hughes and Katy Wix. BBC One Wales, 10:40pm
Wednesday June 21
EXTRAORDINARY ESCAPES WITH Sandi Toksvig: This week, the great Dane is joined by Roisin Conaty as they explore some of the highlights of Wales. Channel 4, 9pm
THE CHANGE: In this distinctive new comedy from Bridget Christie, the stand-up plays Linda, a 50-year-old, married mother of two who feels empowered by the onset of menopause. After half a lifetime of doing 'invisible tasks' for her family, she decides to do something for herself for a change and heads to the Forest of Dean to find a time capsule she hid in a tree as a child. On day one, Linda rents a rancid old caravan from Agnes (Susan Lynch) and Carmel (Monica Dolan) - aka the Eel Sisters - and meets Tony (Paul Whitehouse) at the local pub, whose outdated views last about as long as it takes you to buy him a pint… The series starts with two episodes back-to-back, and Christie, and some of the other cast members, talk about the show here. Channel 4, 10pm
THERE SHE GOES: An hour-long special for the comedy-drama based on the real-life experiences of writers Shaun Pye and Sarah Crawford, whose daughter was born with an extremely rare chromosomal disorder. David Tennant and Jessica Hynes returns as the parents of the severely learning disabled Rosie (Miley Locke), now struggling with the onset of puberty. That story alternates with an earlier timeline in which the family consider whether to have another child. BBC Two, 9pm
THE SKEWER: A welcome return for Jon Holmes's trippy remix of the week's news, with a satirical edge. BBC Radio 4, 11.15pm.
TALKING PICTURES TV WITH Jimmy Cricket: The comic in conversation with radio presenter Mike Read, filmed at The Plaza, Liverpool. Talking Pictures TV, 1.35pm.
Thursday June 22
RUBY SPEAKING: This week's new comedy on the ITVX streaming platform stars Jayde Adams as Ruby, a 'fun and irreverent' member of the customer service team at the Bristol call centre of Hellocom. The ensemble cast also features Katherine Kelly, Joe Sims, Amy-Leigh Hickman and more.
Friday June 23
I'M A VIRGO: You've got to acknowledge the startling originality of this new comedy series coming to Amazon's Prime Video today, courtesy of writer and director Boots Riley. It's a coming-of-age story about Cootie (Jharrel Jerome), a 13-foot-tall man, who literally struggles to fit in to the world.
