First look at Leo Reich in Lena Dunham’s new Netflix series Too Much
Release date announced for the 'rom-com for the disillusioned'
Here’s the first look at Leo Reich in Lena Dunham’s new Netflix series Too Much.
The streamer has released a batch of images as it confirms that the ten-part series, described as a ‘rom-com for the disillusioned’, will be released on July 10.
It stars Megan Stalter as Jessica, a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, who moves to London amid the fallout from a broken relationship in New York. In the UK she plans to live a life of solitude ‘like a Bronte sister’ – but when she meets Felix (Flowers and White Lotus star Will Sharpe), 'a walking series of red flags' – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore.
The cast also includes Richard E. Grant (below), Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Andrew Rannells, and Adwoa Aboah.
This is the first major acting role for Reich, who made a splash with his debut stand-up show Literally Who Cares?! in 2022. The parody of Gen Z’s self-absorbed entitlement was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2022 and subsequently released as an HBO special.
He is also working on a six-part flatshare sitcom for Channel 4 called It Gets Worse with hip filmmakers A24. When it was announced in February, the comic said: 'This is a show for everyone who is, has been or will be a delusional and irritating 24 year old — I see you, I love you, I am you.'
Girls creator Dunham came up with the idea for Too Much with her British musician husband Luis Felber and both writes and directs the series. Felber’s band, Attawalpa, provides the music.
It is being produced by Working Title Television, the company behind Love Actually, and Dunham’s production company Good Thing Going.
Dunham, above on set, moved to the UK several years ago, posting on Instagram as long ago as 2021: ‘I’ve been in London long enough that I feel like I should have become the queen of high tea, the princess of Carnaby Street, the mistress of Georgian architecture and late night curry.’
