Mick Lynch to appear on Have I Got News For You?

Rail union chief to appear opposite Roisin Conaty

Union boss Mick Lynch is to be a panellist on Have I Got News For You later this month, producers Hat Trick have announced.

The news is likely to enrage the Daily Mail, which has been running a series of articles about perceived left-wing bias in the BBC’s topical comedy programmes.

RMT leader Lynch has been praised for his media appearances, getting the best of provocative presenters such as Kay Burley and Piers Morgan during the first round of this summer’s rail strikes. He also appeared on BBC One's Question Time in June.

The union boss will be a panellist on the episode of Have I Got News For You airing on September 23, along with comic Roisin Conaty and regulars Paul Merton and Ian Hislop It will be Conaty’s 13th appearance on the show.

Richard Ayoade will be hosting the episode, marking his ninth time in the chair.
