Fourth series for Esther Smith and Rafe Spall comedy

Apple TV+  has renewed Esther Smith and Rafe Spall’s comedy Trying for a fourth series.

The news comes just before the third season of the show – the first scripted programme Apple made in the UK – comes to an end on Friday.

The acclaimed comedy, created and written by Andy Wolton, revolves around a couple who struggled to conceive a child.

Series three started with them having successfully adopted young Princess and Tyler, putting pressure on their relationship. Episodes are released weekly, rather than being put out as a box set all at once.

The cast also includes Oliver Chris, Sian Brooke, Darren Boyd and Robyn Cara.

Trying is made by BBC Studios and directed by Jim O’Hanlon
