Gunman storms US comedy club

Audience and comics including Craig Robinson evacuated

A gunman stormed a US comedy club last night and ordered everyone outside.

The ‘active shooter’ entered the Comedy Zone in Charlotte,  North Carolina, after gunfire was heard outside.

Comedian Craig Robinson, who plays Darryl in The Office and is the star of the new sitcom Killing It, was among those evacuated.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘I’m performing at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was an active shooter in the comedy club. So they moved us over to this…

‘I’m safe. I’m cool. It was wild I was in the green room and they’re like "everybody get out!’" It was a moment for sure.’

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed: 'He brandished a firearm inside the business, which was quickly evacuated. The suspect then discharged his weapon. There were no injuries and the suspect was taken into custody.’

Robinson’s other credits include playing The Pontiac Bandit in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and roles in Seth Rogen movies films Pineapple Express,  This Is the End and Sausage Party.
