Comedy show back after three years

Stand-up is returning to the BBC Asian Network after a three-year absence.

Tez Ilyas, Raul Kohli, Fathiya’s Comedy and Daman Bamrah will record sets in front of a live audience next month for later broadcast. Highlights will also stream on iPlayer.

Asian Network Comedy, which began in 2016, last aired in 2019 with two shows recorded in London and one at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The new show will be hosted by BBC Asian Network  presenters Nikita Kanda and Mistah Islah  at the BBC’s Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House, Central London on March 18. Apply for free audiences tickets here.

Birmingham-born singer and dancer Bambi Bains will also be performing, along with DJ AJD.

Asian Network head, Ahmed Hussain, said: ‘I’m really pleased to be able to showcase brand new comedy talent from across the UK, alongside household names and I think we’ve all waited long enough to get out there and have a proper laugh.’ 

The news was announced during Harpz Kaur’s BBC Asian Network Breakfast show this morning.
