NextUp founder wins Women In Innovation award

...and the prize will help some UK comedy clubs

The co-founder of the NextUp comedy streaming service has been named as this year’s Women In Innovation award-winner.

Sarah Henley has been honoured on   International Women’s Day  by the organisation that encourages female business leaders.

She said: ‘Both tech and comedy are traditionally very male dominated sectors and it is at the core of what we do here at NextUp to try and tackle this problem head on.

NextUp will be using the grant that comes with the award to kit out six British comedy venues with the tech needed to stream their gigs to an online audience.

The company says this will allow the venues to ‘future proof’ live events against future lockdowns, and broaden the accessibility of live comedy.

Henley will also be taking part in a free one-day online conference from Women In Innovation today, speaking on a panel about the 'economic and social value of female founders in a post pandemic world'.
