Who's on the 2020 Royal Variety Performance?

Jason Manford, Jo Caulfield and Daliso Chaponda will all be appearing at this year’s Royal Variety Performance.

This year’s event will take place in an empty  Blackpool Opera House, with a virtual audience at home.

Manford will be hosting the show, having made several appearances in the past.

He said: ‘After appearing at the Royal Variety Performance three times since 2009, it is an honour and a privilege to be hosting the show this year.

‘It’s been a hugely difficult year for everybody, so I hope that for a couple of hours on a cold Winter’s night in Blackpool, we can take people’s minds off things and do what us Brits do best; have a laugh.’

Circuit stalwart Caulfield and 2017 Britain’s Got Talent finalist  Chaponda – who will also be making an appearance at the Chortle Comedy Book Festival tonight – are making their Royal Variety  debuts.

This year’s BGT winner, comedy musician Jon Courtenay, also takes to the stage as part of his prize for winning the ITV talent show,

Hundred-year-old fundraiser Captain Sir Tom Moore will be appearing from his home for an appearance with Michael Ball who will be on stage with the NHS choir to perform their chart-topping anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Other performances include Sheridan Smith with an extract from Cilla The Musical, a preview of Frozen The Musical starring Samantha Barks,  music from Gary Barlow, Celeste, Melanie C and Steps, magic from Stephen Mulhern, West End singer Marisha Wallace and Kenyan acrobats The Black Blues Brothers.

The Prince of Wales will deliver a message during the show, which will be recorded on November 29 and broadcast on ITV next month.
