U&Dave drops its escape room format

U&Dave has axed its comedy escape room show The Way Out after one series.

Four episodes aired from May, hosted by Mel Giedroyc and featuring Ed Gamble, Nish Kumar, Chloe Petts, Lou Sanders, Amy Annette and David O'Doherty trying to solve a series of challenges.

But it launched to just 77,000 overnight viewers – and now the broadcaster has decided not to commission any further episodes

A UKTV spokesperson confirmed to Chortle: ‘We can confirm that there are no plans to film any further episodes at this time.’

It was made by production house Tuesday’s Child – part of STV Studios – and based on a Belgian programme.

U&Dave's next comedy entertainment series, the Jack-Dee-fronted Help Me Tiny Big Brain, launches on Monday. It pairs children with comedians to take on 'brain-bending problems’.
