Quizzing comedians to set a world record

...for most people in a 'virtual' pub

Comedians including Russell Howard, Nish Kumar, Jon Richardson, and Joel Dommett are to help set a record for the ‘most visitors to a virtual pub’.

They will be taking part in a quiz night at The Covid Arms, the venture comic Kiri Pritchard-Mclean set up as an online venue for stand-ups to perform from home.

The record attempt will take place next Friday night, May 1, and raise money for The National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal.

And as there is no existing Guinness World Record in this category, they are certain to succeed in getting into the record books.

Pritchard-McLean said: ‘I’m so excited to be involved with this, it’s all my favourite things; comedy, pubs and quizzes. Oh, and charity, please delete this line so it looks like charity was the first thing I said.

‘This is going to be such a fun event and takes me back to my comedy roots, gigging in pubs for no money and working on a webcam to make ends meet.

‘In all seriousness, this is exactly the slice of kindness and joy we all need now. See you at the bar.’

Also taking part are Marcus Brigstocke, Rachel Parris, Lucy Beaumont and Suzi Ruffell, plus The Chase’s Jenny Ryan and mystery guests.

The Covid Arms is being backed by Crowdfunder UK and brewery Beavertown, which is stumping up beer as rewards. The last virtual stand-up gig they organised raised more than £15,000 for charity.

Tickets to play along with next week's quiz are £2, or £10 for a ‘front-row seat’ with greater involvement, and are available here.
