Stephen Merchant pens new BBC drama

About criminals doing community service together

Stephen Merchant has written a new BBC One series about a group of criminals doing community service.

The Office co-creator will also play a ­ kerb crawler in the drama Offenders,

Other characters include an Oxbridge student with a shoplifting habit and a gang member attempting to go straight, the Sunday Mirror reports

In the six-part series, to air next year, the crooks are thrown together to renovate a dilapidated community centre.

Big Talk Productions will shoot the series in Merchant’s home town of Bristol this autumn.

Merchant – who starred in and directed Fighting With My Family with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson – will soon be seen playing real-life serial killer Stephen Port in the forthcoming drama The Barking Murders.
