Dexter Procter: The Ten-Year-Old Doctor has been shortlisted for the International Emmy for best live action children’s TV show.

Adapted by stand-up and author Adam Kay from his own novel,  the BBC One comedy features a star-studded cast including Peter Serafinowicz, Sue Johnston, Mike Wozniak, Gemma Whelan, Jameela Jamil, Konnie Huq and Pippa Haywood.

On hearing the news, Kay said, ‘Bloody hell.’

The show is up against Chile’s 31 Minutos: Calurosa Navidad [31 Minutes: Hot Christmas], De Achterblijvers [Those Left Behind]  from the Netherlands and Love at First Spike from the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Rowan Atkinson’s Man Vs Baby represents the UK in the comedy category.

Also shortlisted are Vir Das’s stand-up special Fool Volume from India; Spain’s Netflix sitcom Old Dog, ​New Tricks and División Palermo [Community Squad] from Argentina.

 Horrible Science has been nominated in the kids’ factual and entertainment category and The Scarecrows’ Wedding for kids’ animation.

Dexter Procter and the Case of the Disappearing Doctor will air on the BBC later this year, with Harry Enfield and Michelle Gomez joining the cast.
