Mrs Brown's a hit on d'mand

Sitcom is No 2 in iPlayer chart

Mrs Brown’s Boys was the second most popular show on iPlayer over the Christmas period.

The Christmas Day episode, Mammy’s Forest, attracted 1.25million on-demand requests over the festive period, just behind EastEnders, whose New Year’s Day episode attracted 1.31million.

That’s on top of the 6.13 million viewers who tuned in to Mrs Brown’s Boys on the day, when it was outperformed by The Queen’s Speech, Strictly Come Dancing and Bake Off.

Third in the iPlayer chart was the one-off return of Outnumbered, just 3,200 viewers behind Brendan O’Carroll’s sitcom.

The week between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day was the busiest in iPlayer’s history, with 69.3 million requests.

The ratings above relate to the period from December 20 to January 2.
