Ted Robbins returns to Phoenix Nights Live

Fans' joy at screen appearance

Ted Robbins made an appearance on Phoenix Nights Live today – two weeks after collapsing on stage.

The 59-year-old comic was seen on the screens at the Manchester Arena from his hospital bed, delighting fans.

Today's matinee was for those who were at the opening night when he had a heart attack, causing the performance to be distressingly cut short.

He was seen smiling, waving and giving the thumbs-up at the end of today’s show, as the rest of the cast gathered on the stage. But he didn’t say a word.

Many in the audience tweeted their delight at seeing that Robbins was on the road to recovery.

Teacher Stacey Howard said: ‘Lovely touch at the end of the afternoon showing of #phoenixnightslive today where they showed Ted Robbins. Relieved to see him doing OK.’

Michael Leonard from North Wales added: ‘Had a lovely time in Manchester for Phoenix Nights. Great to see Ted Robbins doing well at the end!!’

And Nigel Hart said: ‘Finally seeing all of Phoenix Nights Live worth the wait. Biggest cheer was for Ted Robbins aka Den Perry at the end’

The string of shows comes to an end tomorrow, with more than 190,000 tickets sold. All the proceeds are going to Comic Relief as the cast are performing for free. After the show
