Dave orders a second series of Crackanory stories

Digital channel Dave has ordered a second series of its comedy storytelling show Crackanory.

Six new 40-minute episodes have been commissioned from producers Tiger Aspect. Each will feature two stories, and the series is due to air later this year.

The first series – which featured Jack Dee, Jessica Hynes, Sharon Horgan, Charlie Higson among the storytellers – drew more than 500,000 viewers to Dave, up 82 per cent on its slot average. Writers included Jeremy Dyson, Holly Walsh, Jason Cook and Kevin Eldon.

Stars and writers for series two will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Dave’s general manager Steve North said: Crackanory proves storytime is not just for the kids. The show provides grown-ups with a rare opportunity to get totally lost in a twisted tale that engages through a unique blend of live action, animation and intimate spoken word.

‘Dave’s commitment to providing talent-led content continues with a second series of this bold programme.’

The news follows the recent announcement that Dave has commissioned a further two series of Dave Gorman’s Modern Life is Goodish.
