UK release for Rob Delaney's book

A tight 5: September 3

THE NEW book by American comic Rob Delaney, dubbed ‘the funniest person on Twitter’ by Comedy Central, is to be released in the UK after publisher Little, Brown brought the UK rights from Random House. Rob Delaney: Mother. Wife. Sister. Human. Warrior. Falcon. Yardstick. Turban. Cabbage will be published as an e-book on November 5, coming out in paperback in December. Publisher Ursula Doyle said: ‘This memoir is extraordinarily entertaining but as an account of addiction, recovery, suicidal depression and becoming a comedian, it is one of the most powerful, eye-wateringly visceral and inspiring stories I have ever read.’Click here to preorder the hardback.

DANIEL KITSON is to host a benefit for London homeless charity Hackney Winter Night Shelter. The star-studded bill at the Hackney Empire will also include David Baddiel, Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner Bridget Christie and Paul Sinha – with another ‘huge name’ to be announced soon. FOOTAGE from the Chortle Conference on how to get ahead in comedy is now available online. The day-long event, held in June, was aimed at both new comedians and those looking for the next step up the ladder. It featured sessions on getting started, doing Edinburgh, agents, getting into TV and radio, the business side of the industry and the increasing trend for comedians to go it alone in promoting and producing themselves. Also included were interviews with Stewart Lee, QI and Blackadder producer John Lloyd and circuit comic John Robins to give first-hand insight. All sessions are now available – almost six hours of footage – behind a $40 (approx £25) paywall. Click here to watch them.

THE Simon Pegg and Nick Frost film The World’s End is to be released on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download on November 25, it has been announced. Preorder.

PAUL BASSETT DAVIES won Chortle’s £100 prize for the best Correspondents article submitted in August, for his piece about comedy becoming too inward-looking.
