Men thrash women in gag survey

98 per cent say blokes are better at jokes

The depth of sexism female comedians have to overcome has been revealed by a new survey.

According to an opinion poll, an overwhelming 98 per cent of people think men are better at telling jokes than women.

The research, involving 798 subjects, was a publicity stunt for Mini Babybel, but nevertheless exposes a massive bias in favour of men being considered funny.

Katherine Flannery, from the cheese company, said: ‘With the success of Miranda Hart and Sarah Millican, we were surprised to see just two per cent of Brits believe women to be funnier than men.’

The survey named Billy Connolly as Britain’s favourite comedian, narrowly beating Lee Evans and Eddie Izzard. And it claimed that Liverpool was the UK’s funniest city.
