New TV role for Izzard

Eddie joins United States Of Tara

Eddie Izzard is joining dark American comedy United States Of Tara.

He will have a major recurring role in the show’s third series, which begins filming next month.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Izzard will play a brilliant psychology professor who studies the lead character, played by Emmy-winner Toni Collette. The series, which airs on the Showtime network, revolves around a woman with a multiple personality disorder.

The new series is due to air early in 2011 and it will be Izzard’s his first major TV role since he starred in the FX series The Riches with Minnie Driver, which ran for two seasons in 2007 and 2008.
