Blue plaque to St Trinian's star

A blue plaque has been put up in honour of St Trinian’s actor Alistair Sim.

The English Heritage plaque has been unveiled at 8 Frognal Gardens, in Hampstead, North London, where the star lived for more than 20 years.

He played St Trinian's headmistress Miss Fritton in The Belles of St Trinian's in 1954 and Blue Murder at St Trinian's three years later. In the first film, he also played Miss Frinton’s brother Clarence

The Edinburgh-born actor was also known for playing Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.

There are more than 800 official English Heritage blue plaques in London.

Meanwhile, a separate organisation, the Heritage Foundation, is unveiling a blue plaque honoring John Inman and Charlie Drake, on September 21 at Brinsworth House in Twickenham, the performers’ retirement home where Drake lived before his death last year.
