Losing Faith

Brown quits Fringe after collapse

Veteran comedy impressionist Faith Brown has cancelled her one-woman Edinburgh Fringe show after collapsing on stage.

The 63-year-old fell to the ground 25 minutes into the musical revue Faith Brown And Her Boys In The Buff at the Pleasance.

The show was halted and she was seen by a doctor. She has been ordered to rest at home and her understudy Anna Stolli has taken over her role.

But the one-woman show Faith Brown Up Front, which charts a career best known for her Margaret Thatcher impersonations, has been cancelled.

Her spokesman Kevin Wilson said: ‘Faith is desperately sad to let down any of her fans.

‘Faith is an old pro from the school of The Show Must Go On variety and is devastated not to be performing her two shows.’

Brown, who was born Irene Carroll, began her TV career in the Seventies impressionists’ showcase Who Do You Do on iTV, was a regular on Ken Dodd's World of Laughter in 1976 and presented her own ITV chat show in 1980. In 2006, she appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.
