A lot more news for you

BBC's six-series deal

The BBC has signed up for another six series of Have I Got News for You – taking it up to its 38th season.

As part of the deal, makers Hat Trick Productions will also produce a video podcast for the corporation’s website.

And as from the 33rd series, which starts this week, the Saturday night BBC Two repeat will be extended by 10 minutes to include extras not seen on the BBC One broadcast the previous night before.

Hat Trick’s Jonathan Davenport said: ‘As a topical comedy show Have I Got News For You is ripe for spin-off viral programming.

‘The video podcast is the first in a range of digital initiatives we have in mind for the show over the course of the next three years.’
