What price integrity?
Fringe group auction themselves on eBay
Hard-up performers are auctioning off the chance for a budding sitcom writer to have their script performed at the Edinburgh festival – no matter how terrible it is.
The team behind The Sitcom Trials are hoping to offset some of the thousands of pounds it costs to stage a Fringe show with an eBay auction.
And the winning bidder will have their 15-minute script performed as part of the show, with no regard for the quality.
Writing on Chortle’s forums, producer Kev Sutherland said: “The guest script which will come through the eBay bidding is obviously risky, but that's what we thrive on.
“I can't wait to see what wins, and what the audience think of it. This is admittedly likely to land us with egg on our face. But isn't improv like that?
Bidding for the one-off slot currently stands at £21 – though Sutherland is hoping to raise up to £500. Click here to bid.
