5,000 vote in the Chortle Awards 2019

Winners announced later this month

Just over 5,000 people have voted in the 2019 Chortle Awards – up more than 25 per cent on last year.

Yet some categories were extremely close-fought. In the tightest four-way tie, the winner got 28.4 per cent of the vote, and fourth place 23 per cent.

Of those who had their say, 87 per cent describe themselves as comedy fans; five per cent comedy industry and eight per cent comedians, roughly equally divided between pro, semi-pro and open spot.
