Romesh Ranganathan writes his memoirs

Autobiography out in October

Romesh Ranganathan is writing his autobiography.

Straight Outta Crawley will cover his career in comedy, his earlier his job as a maths teacher and his Sri Lankan background.

The book will describe how got his taste for stand-up at a Pontin's Holiday Camp talent competition at the age of nine, beating the only other competitor, a young girl playing the kazoo.

It took him 22 more years to dip a toe into the circuit, but quickly rose to be a familiar TV face.

Bantam Press,  the Penguin Random House imprint which is publishing the title in October, say: ‘Now, for the first time, he tells the full story of how he got here. From the delights of Sri Lankan hospitality to the race riots of Crawley and the horrors of vegan cheese, this is Ranganathan's hilarious autobiography.’

Last week, BBC Two announced that The Misadventures Of Romesh Ranganathan would be returning for a second series, while Judge Romesh is currently airing on Dave.

He has also been piloting a topical panel show for BBC Two, The Ranganation; while the Showtime series  Just Another Immigrant, about his attempts to crack America, has just aired in the US.
