Shrinking is growing
Fourth series for Brett Goldstein show
Apple TV has renewed Shrinking for a fourth series, before the third has aired.
The series – co-created by British comic Brett Goldstein – stars Jason Segel as a grieving therapist who becomes involved in his patients' lives.
Goldstein also returns as Louis Winston as part of a cast that includes Harrison Ford as senior therapist Paul Rhoades.
The news comes as Apple confirmed that Ted Lasso would be returning for a fourth series this summer, with Goldstein reprising his role as Roy Kent, for which he has won an Emmy.
In the new season, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) returns to Richmond – but this time to coach the club’s second division women’s football team.
Other returning cast include Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift alongside additions including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.
Nick Mohammed was not listed as part of the season 4 cast, despite having previously hinted that his character Nate might ‘pop up’.
Meanwhile, the third series of Shrinking starts today with guest stars including Jeff Daniels, Michael J. Fox and Candice Bergen as well as Damon Wayans Jr reprising his role as Derrick. The 11 episodes will be released weekly until April 8.
Goldstein created Shrinking with Segel and American sitcom veteran Bill Lawrence, who also created Scrubs and Spin City, as well as being one of the creators of Ted Lasso. His next series Rooster, starring Steve Carell, is set to premiere on HBO in March 2026.
Meanwhile, Goldstein will next be seen in the drama film At The Sea alongside Amy Adams, which has its premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival next month, and Office Romance, in which he takes the lead role opposite Jennifer Lopez. He scripted that film with Joe Kelly.
