Hear extracts from Malcolm Hardee's funeral

It has been almost two years since alternative comedy godfather Malcolm Hardee drowned in the Thames, a couple of weeks after his 55th birthday. His funeral, at St Alfege’s in Greenwich was one of the most riotous a church has surely seen, with comedians and musicians lining up to eulogise the hard-drinking, hard-gambling, shambolic legend.

A memorial gig is taking place at the Hackney Empire on January 28 – and to help promote it, Chortle has some exclusive audio footage of the funeral.

Previously we have posted tributes from Jo Brand and Stewart Lee, and this week we have the eulogy from Malcom’s son Frank.

Tickets for the January 28 gig, whose vast bill boasts Jo Brand, Norman Lovett, Phil Kay, Richard Herring and Simon Munnery among many others, are available from the venue on 020 8985 2424.
