Comic veterans roast each other

Steve Martin and Martin Short roasted each other during their opening monologue of Saturday Night Live yesterday.

It was the 16th time Martin has hosted the show, as revealed in a brief montage, but only the third for Short. 

The pair compared themselves to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as 'no one is rooting for us but you’ll tune in to watch anyway'.

And Martin said Short was like World Cup soccer, because 'I just can't get into it'.

They then shared the eulogies they had written for each other come their funerals, with Short saying: 'I know Steve is looking down on us because he looked down on everybody.'

They were also joined by their Only Murders In The Building co-star Selena Gomez, and later in the show. they parodied Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
