On mask, quarantine and cancelled Christmas

Carl Donnelly has achieved what might seem an impossible feat for a lot of fellow British comedians - and performed stand-up to a theatre full of people.

The comic appeared at the opening gala for this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, which has just been screened on ABC TV down under.

He opened his set by explaining that he has spent the pandemic in Australia through his family, before chatting about lax mask-wearing, quarantine and on illegal Christmas dinners:

The Melbourne festival kicked off yesterday and runs for three and a half weeks.
