Black comedians say #ITakeResponsibility

Parody response to white celebrities

A number of black American comedians have responded to the cringe-inducing #ITakeResponsibility video white celebrities released last week.

The original video, shot in sombre black-and-white was widely mocked on social media as hollow virtual-signalling that misjudged the national mood –  inviting comparisons with the corny pandemic-inspired cover version of John Lennon’s Imagine originated by actress Gal Gadot.

Now comedians including Amanda Seales, Mateen Stewart and Grace and Frankie star Baron Vaughn have made their own statements about refusing to engage with white culture.

Apologies include ‘picking you last in the basketball game’, not watching Sex And The City, and disliking Waldorf salad.
