Josh Elton's motor impounded during Edinburgh run

comedyThe end of the Edinburgh Fringe means a maelstrom of emotions for comedians who’ve spent a month pouring their heart and soul into their daily shows.

And for Josh  Elton it became even more intense when he discovered his car was missing from the spot where he left it.

Speaking on Instagram, the comic said: ‘Today is the most overwhelming day of my life.

‘I woke up this morning to leave the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I had to get an Uber with all of my stuff to where my car was parked… and my car was not there.

‘The police told me that it had been towed, a month ago when I left it there because it was in a residents’ parking zone…

‘So I took another Uber to the car pound and it cost me £1,000 to get my fucking car back.’

He had to do all this while carrying a massive picture of the car, which was a prop from his show. The image was from a 2018 BBC News story about him getting caught on bollards which rose from the ground as he was driving over them in Cardiff city centre.

Elton said that when he arrived at the Edinburgh pound everyone was ‘laughing at me’m adding: ‘I said to the guy, "How are you doing today?" and he was like, "Better than you, mate." I was like, "You can go fuck yourself dude.’

His emotional roller-coaster did not stop there, as when he stopped at Tebay Services he got a text from his publicist saying: ‘Sorry to break your run of four-star reviews’.

Elton said: ‘I click it, and it's not fucking loading. I'm like, "oh, what's this?" And I open it up, and I got a five-star review, and I cried in the services. There's too many emotions.’
