Why Matt Parker printed 8,000 completely unique flyers

(Of course it's to do with maths)

comedyThere’s nothing unusual in Matt Parker having 8,000 flyers printed for his Edinburgh Fringe run – bit it is unusual that every one is unique.

The comedian and mathematician revealed the stunt on Instagram, explaining: ’On the back of every one of my flyers are 102 symbols and that's different on every single one.

‘And for any pair of flyers, there will always be one and only one symbol in common. That’s the same across all the posters.’

‘It's a city sized finite projective plane, like the game of Dobble, but on a ridiculous scale’

The reference to card game and the mathematical term for a collection of points and line where each line goes through certain points while missing others is explained here.
