Rob Beckett: I was ‘frogmarched’ out of  Mick Jagger's birthday party

Comic admits he'd had too much to drink

comedyYou might have thought Mick Jagger would be OK with some rock and roll excess.

But Rob Beckett has revealed he was ‘frogmarched’ out of  the Rolling Stones legend’s 82nd birthday party for being too drunk.

The comic got into the bash at The Rex Rooms in Chelsea as the guest of Jimmy Carr, after a long drinking session watching Oasis’s Wembley Stadium comeback gigs.

There he rubbed shoulders with the likes of Ronnie Wood, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Lulu Guinness. ‘It was really nice. They were really chatty and hospitable,’ the comedian said.

He said he spent a lot of time chatting to Ronnie Wood and his wife Sally, but became  increasingly aware he was the worse for drink.

‘I’ve had six pints of lager, two espresso martinis, and I’d say a bottle and a half of rosé,’ Beckett admitted on The Parenting Hell podcast he co-hosts with Josh Widdicombe.

‘I’m stood there wearing a Stone Island anorak with a vodka and soda…  chatting to Ronnie and Sally Wood and Jimmy Carr, and I’m just talking absolute shit.’

Sensing the situation was getting out of control, Beckett decided to make an exit but needed help.

‘I got like frogmarched out by four people that were holding on to me,’ he said. ‘Maybe I got kicked out, I don’t know! They’re walking me out like they’re extracting me, like I’m a Rolling Stone and there’s 10,000 people trying to grab me.

But Beckett still remembers last moth's party fondly, insisting: ‘It was one of the best nights of my life.’
