Comic's rash promise about his Oxford date

Comedian Iain Stirling has joked that he will plat a tour date topless if he sells more than half the seats.

The stand-up – and voice of Love Island – said he normally struggles to sell tickets at the Oxford Playhouse, so upped the stakes for his next show there in March.

The comic made his tongue-in-cheek vow when he appeared on Chris Moyles’s  Radio X show and confessed the city was a tricky place for him to play.

‘Oh my God. It sold terribly last year,’ he admitted. ‘I don't know why I've gone back this year. I'm talking like 20 per cent sold or something mental.

’It’s never gone well there, and it's quite a big room as well, so it makes it kind of weird. It looks like I'm hosting like a local town meeting.’

After Moyles urged people to buy tickets, Stirling added: ‘Say if it’s over 50 per cent sold, I’ll do it topless."

‘I was going to say naked, but it just sounds a bit… It’s too early in the morning for that sort of get on. I’m quietly confident I won’t have to worry about that.’

Moyles said: ‘Well, if you just said naked, I would have bought all the tickets.’
