Run, Robin, run!

Comedian leaves himself minus 5 minutes to get between venues 10 monutes apart...

comedyThe Edinburgh Fringe is so manic you might wish you could be in two places at once.

That’s certainly true for Welsh comic Robin Morgan – who has managed to book himself two overlapping shows.

He is introducing Robin Morgan And Friends at the Counting House at 1pm, which is a bit of an issue given that his work-in-progress show beforehand finishes at Monkey Barrel at 1.05pm.

Google Maps says it’s a ten-minute walk between the two venues, although the comedian insists: ‘I think that’s bullshit and I can do it in a cheeky five.’

So what will the first ten (or so) minutes of the second show look like?

’It’s going to be an epic countdown, he said. ‘The audience will be in their seats and it’ll the excitement will build. I’m talking lighting cues, smoke-machine, holograms of Abba – whatever I can get my hands on.’  Which might be a challenge for a Laughing Horse Free Festival venue.

'As I’m off stage at Monkey Barrel, I’m going to FaceTime the room on the big screen,’ he added. ‘The first few minutes of the show is going to be me doing crowdwork with an audience I cannot see.

'Is it going to work? I have no idea. Will I be hit by a car en-route? It’s possible. Will I be a sweaty mess when I arrive? Absolutely.’

Luckily, he’ll only have to do this for a few days as his stint at the Fringe is only a week. But he does admit ‘I did my first full run in 2015, and I still haven’t learned how to pace myself… I always work myself to the bone.’

And as if to prove it, he also has a kids’ show called Storytime at the Three Sisters at 10am.  (Oh, and he’s hosting Chortle’s Fast Fringe showcase on July 31!)
