Is Catherine Tate Pigeon on the Masked Singer?

Many fans seem to think so...

comedyViewers of The Masked Singer fans are convinced Catherine Tate is behind the  Pigeon costume.

The comedian’s name trended on Twitter after the character sang TLC's No Scrubs on the ITV show last night.

Many fans assumed the costume – tartan slippers, a pink knitted cardigan and old fashioned spectacles – was a nod to Tate’s best-known alter-ego, her foul-mouthed Essex nan.

Giving her clues, Pigeon said: ‘I might be an old bird but let me tell you ageing has never bothered me.’

And Tate’s schoolgirl Lauren famously had the catchphrase ‘Am I bovvered?’

Pigeon added that she had ‘ruffled a few feathers in her time’ but was ‘unflappable' and ‘good at being able to ask the tougher questions’.

However panellist Mo Gilligan was convinced it was someone else, telling host Joel Dommett: ‘I think it's Gemma Collins. I really think it's Gemma Collins and it sounded like her.’

Another clue for Pigeon’s identity came in the phrase describing her, ‘life imitates art’ – which contains the word ‘Tate’…. as well as the comic sharing her name with an art gallery.

Here are some of the many tweets identifying her as Pigeon:

Last night, Lulu was revealed to be the celebrity inside the Piece Of Cake costume.
