How Rosie Jones hooked up with a Dating No Filter contestant

As comics share their dating nightmates

comedyEvery contestant who signs up for Sky’s Dating No Filter hope things will heat up… but not normally with one of the professional comedians offering their funny commentary.

Rosie Jones has revealed that she hooked up with one of the women from the first series, after the televised date turned sour.

Speaking to promote the series’ return, the comic explained that, short of the couple hitting it off on screen, ‘my second dream situation is that it’s a lesbian date that goes horribly and I get a date out of it’.

That comment prompted her comedy partner on the show, Josh Widdicombe to blurt out: ‘Shall we be honest about what happened in the first series?’

Rosie then admitted to following her on Instagram, ‘and I started chatting her up! I got a girl out of the first series so I’m hoping two for two!’

Josh joked: ‘They need to get all the applications sent directly to Rosie; she should vet the whole thing!’

It’s not the only unusual start to fling Rosie has experienced.

When asked about the worst chat-up line that had been used on her she said: ‘It was so awful but literally three hours later it worked! I think it worked retrospectively.’

Explaining all she said: ‘So, I did an online show where I made a plaster cast of my vagina. The clitoris on the plaster cast was pierced. This was all online, so this girl came up to me a few months ago and was like, "I’ve seen your vagina on TV, was it your actual vagina, can I check?"

‘I was like, "You’ll never know!" ‘

‘Actually, three hours later she did find out!’

Rosie also admitted to tailoring her stand-up material to maximise her chance of pulling one of the audience members.

‘This might make me sound like a fuckboy, but I never use dating material because I want to look good for the future dates in the audience,’ she said. ‘It’s an on-going process!’

Other comedians in the series admitted to having less successful dating stories.

Tom Allen revealed: ‘I was on a date once and I noticed he was on Grindr looking for somebody else to meet. So that was pretty bad, I guess. Bad manners!’

Joel on Dating No Filter

And Joel Dommett, above, said he had a long history of  awkward situations that were ‘mainly down to me’.

‘In hindsight, I look back at how I used to date before I met my wife and I’m absolutely devastated,’ he said. ‘Genuinely, I keep accidentally bumping into people that I either went on a date with, or was going to go on a date with, and I keep having to apologise to them.

‘I’m like, "I’m so sorry, I realise now as a married man, how unbelievably weird that was that I bought meal prep in a Tupperware to our date, and I got it out. I understand why we didn’t go on a second date there".’

London on Dating No Filter

In a story she’s previously told on stage, London Hughes, above, recalled her worst date was ‘the man who had a whole methadone comedown while we were having a picnic in Hyde Park’.

‘But it was a fancy date,’ she added. ‘He picked me up in a Ferrari. And then we got a spot in Hyde Park and halfway through the date, he starts going pale, vomiting over himself, falls over, tells me that he's on a methadone comedown and I've got to drive him home. So, I drove his Ferrari home.’

She also said that since becoming famous she wouldn’t date a guy who has a normal job ‘because we live two different lifestyles’

‘I'm a celebrity. So I can't date a civilian,’ she said. ‘It's not about money or power, whatever, it’s literally about lifestyle.

‘I'm coming home and if you ask me what I did at work, I'll be like, "Kevin Hart flew me to Vegas," but if I ask him, he's like, "Oh, Deborah brought in a cake," know what I mean? It's different lives! Deborah from accounts brought in a red velvet cake, Kevin Hart flew me to Vegas. We are not meshing. We can't have those convos.

‘Nothing you say will interest me ever. Ever! Steve in accounts had a tiff with his missus. I couldn’t give a shit about Steve in accounts!’

• Dating No Filter will return for a second series on February 11 on Sky Max and streaming service NOW.
