The biggest award just got bigger
Ridiculous NextUp trophy back at the Edinburgh Fringe
The literal biggest award in comedy is back - and bigger than ever.
The giant inflatable trophy handed out by stand-up streaming service NextUp at the Edinburgh Fringe is this year 2.03m tall, a whole centimetre taller than last year.
Last year’s winner Colin Hoult said: ‘I was entirely overwhelmed by the love from the Nextup community when I won the award and equally overwhelmed by the sheer size of the bugger which I now use for my mobile bouncy castle business. It really is the gift that keeps on giving. Best of luck you creative geniuses.’
The award also comes with a more practical £500 and the option for the comedian to have their special recorded and showcased on the NextUp platform
NextUp co-founder Daniel Berg said: ‘The world’s biggest and most inconvenient award is back! And it’s 1cm bigger.
'The only thing more ridiculous than its size, is the notion of judging comedy. But with this award, there are no winners. Only somebody who gets the most votes and is then burdened with a 2 metre inflatable trophy during their most stressful time of their year. Get voting!’
Voting is open now at nextupcomedy.com/biggestaward. The winner will be announced on August 22.
