Of all the people who lined up to congratulate Rose Matafeo on her Edinburgh Comedy Award win, one stands out above the rest.

New Zealand’s prime minister Jacinda Ardern took time out from running the country to tweet her admiration for her fellow countrywoman, commenting: ‘This is huge!’

Ardern has just returned to work after becoming the first world leader to take maternity leave while in office.
