The day Liam Gallagher woke up next to Steve Coogan
Liam Gallagher has spoken of the morning he woke up after a wild night out – to find Steve Coogan in his bed.
And what’s more the comic greeted him with an Alan Partridge: ‘A-haa!’
The Oasis star sang Coogan’s praises in an interview with Vice’s music channel Noisey, saying: ‘Love Coogan…. You just look at him and even though he’s cleaned up his shit and all that He just looks fucking like he’s close to the bone’.
And he recalled the one time they partied together in the 1990s.
‘There was a wedding going on, me and him sitting at the bar having a couple of fucking drinks in this dungeon thing. Loads of people come in, they’re going like "Liam are you gonna sing Wonderwall?".
‘I was going, "No, I ain’t singing none of that shit"
‘[Coogan’s] going "Leave him alone, I’ll fucking sing a song" and I don’t think they really knew who he was he was. He got up on stage and sung It’s Not Unusual by Tom Jones but fucking mega".
"I’m at the back laughing, rolling around, and they’re all going, "I don’t know what you’re laughing at, he’s a better singer than you".’
Gallagher recalls that over the rest of the night: ‘We drank loads of Guinness and went back to our room and crashed out.
‘I wake up and see this lump in the bed and I go "Oh, God, Who’s this?". And it was him and he was fully clothed and he’s gone [gesturing throwing the bedsheets off]… A-haa!".
‘I haven’t fucking seen him since.’
