The one-time enfant terrible of the alternative comedy scene is opening a burger joint.

Allen is currently helping builders transform the former chippy  in Stroud, Gloucestershire, which will be run by his partner Tamzin.

He said: ‘It's good to encourage a place where kids can hang out after school. They need that and there isn't much in Stroud for them at that time of day.’

Tamsin described the new eateries as being an American diner in the mould of Dirty Burger in London. ‘That’s the plan for this – simple but done really well, using as much local produce as we can,’ she told Gloucestershire Live.
