Eddie Izzard goes back to school

Private Shakespearean performance for pupils

Eddie Izzard is to give primary school pupils a private Shakespearean performance.

The comedian will visit St Michael’s CofE Primary School in Louth, Lincolnshire, on Monday and perform extracts of her solo production The Tragedy of Hamlet.

The visit  will include a discussion between Izzard and actor-director Ben Keaton, who first worked with Izzard on the London comedy circuit in the 1990s. Keaton is the founder of Creativity Academy, a local charity dedicated to inspiring creativity and confidence in young people.

Keaton said: ‘Eddie’s visit will be an unforgettable experience for these young people and a brilliant reminder of what’s possible when imagination meets courage.’

Headteacher Sarah Addison added: ‘The Creativity Academy has been transformative for our children. It’s given them the freedom to experiment, fail safely and try again — skills that build confidence across every subject.

‘Having someone of Eddie Izzard’s calibre visit the school is an extraordinary opportunity for them.’
