Last call for comics to play the Aberdeen Fringe
More than 200 expected for three-day event
Organisers of the Aberdeen Fringe Festival have put out a final call to those who want to perform at this year’s event, before tomorrow’s deadline.
The three-day event, now in its third year, will take over venues across the city from 24-26 October.
Event organiser and Aberdeen comedian Wray Thomson said: ‘The growth of the festival has been phenomenal. We started in 2023 with a little over 30 acts. This year, we’re expecting more than 200.
‘The aim was always to promote local entertainment, and to get people out to see what’s on their doorstep. The festival’s taken on a real international element too. We’ve got comics coming over from Malta, Canada, and Australia.
"We’re aiming to bring up to 2,000 people to the city across the weekend, and with so much going on, we’re confident that’ll happen.’
A wristband costing £14.25 lets fans into all events across the weekend and are available here.
Comedian ML Clipston – pictured, who plays Maggie in the BBC comedy series Scot Squad, is returning to the festival for a second time and said: ‘It’s brilliant being able to perform locally rather than have to travel south to put on a show.
‘The city needs more events like these. There’s so much talent in [Scotland’s] north-east that people deserve to see.’
The application deadline for performers is midnight on Sunday 15 June. Act get 70 per cent of the box office. Apply here
