London's 50-hour Improvathon returns for a 15th year
Pleasance to host the marathon show
London’s marathon 50-hour improvised show is to return for a 15th year.
This year’s ‘Improvathon’ is entitled Because We Can Can Can! and is described as 'Moulin Rouge meets The Greatest Showman’.
It will be staged at the Pleasance in Islington, starting at 7pm on April 4 and ending at 9pm the following Sunday.
Adam Meggido, who is directing the mammoth performance with Ali James, said: ‘We are thrilled to be taking the Improvathon to Pleasance London, the perfect setting for a weekend of cabaret and Victoriana. It’s like bingeing your favourite Netflix show for a whole weekend – but live!’
The show is chopped up into 25 two-hour ‘episodes’ with a live band and refreshments available throughout. There’s also a special family-friendly episode at 11am on the Sunday.
Although the full line-up of performers has not been announced, the production promises stars of Showstopper! and Mischief Theatre alongside comedians, performers, up-and-comers and international guests.
Last year, Rufus Hound proposed to his now fiancée Sally Hodgkiss live on stage during the Improvathon.
